Frequently Asked Questions by Idlestone Renters

Q:  Is Idlestone privately owned?

A:  Yes.  Sorry, we are not taking any new reservations at this time.

Q:  Is the cottage cleaned?

A:  Yes, we use hotel standards to ensure that when you check in at 4:00pm, the home will be clean.  We use fresh laundered linen service on the beds, professional cleaning products, and gentle care to ensure you’re pleased.  If we can make your experience better, please call us upon check-in. It will not be cleaned on a daily basis during your stay. At the end of your stay our professional cleaners will come in to clean, just as would happen if you had stayed at a resort. There is an additional cleaning fee that you will be charged for this service. Currently $60.00

Q:  How do I make a reservation?

A: Sorry, we are not taking any new reservations at this time.

Q: Where can I find details on check-in time, smoking, etc.?

A: Check in is usually about 4:00pm, check out is 11:00am and it is a no-smoking house! Within the rental agreement you can also expect to find terms related to check-in and checkout times, maximum occupancy (8), pet policies (none allowed), cancellation conditions, and maintenance of the cottage.

Q: Why is there a “Maximum Occupancy” stipulation for Idlestone?

A: Everyone in your party counts as a guest.  For fire safety reasons, the city requires permits, which indicate the maximum number of guests that may stay in the vacation rental home and you may receive a citation if you are found to be over the limits.

Q: When is “High Season” and when is “Low Season”?

A: High Season begins Memorial day weekend and ends on the last day of September.  Low Season begins on October until the day before Memorial day weekend again.

Q: How are cancellations/refunds handled?

A: The cancellation policy associated with your rental agreement will clearly communicate penalties associated with canceling your contract. Note that cancellations due to weather conditions are not permitted. Travel insurance can protect your vacation investment if unforeseen circumstances require you to cancel your trip. It may be possible to reschedule your stay if there has been a cancellation.

Q: What type of arrival instructions should I expect?

A:  In addition to directions to the property, you should be provided with a key code to access the home as well as a telephone number if anything should go wrong. There is a welcome binder with additional instructions and helpful information in the living room.

Q:  What if there is a problem during my vacation?

A: It is in your best interest to report any problems immediately. Contact information will be provided in the pre-arrival instructions and also posted in the house. The telephone number listed in this information will be your best resource to quickly resolve any issues that may arise during your stay.

Q: What happens when I get ready to leave?

A: First, ensure that the property is secure.  Check all windows, doors, electrical appliances to ensure everything is secure and off. Please set the heat to low. Check to make sure that all your personal items are packed, and nothing is left behind. Lock the door, and return the key to the lock box securing it with the same code given to access the home. There is also a copy of these instructions located on the refrigerator.  We hope you enjoy your stay, and will come back again to visit us.
